How to Work from Home Successfully with a Dog

Posted on January 28 2021

Right now, more people are working from home than ever before. While this is often a
novelty at first, if you have a dog like a Frenchie as in the picture, it can soon turn into a bit of a nightmare. In particular, pet
owners often have a problem with concentration as their furry friend can be looking for
affection and to play all the time. But it is possible to work from home successfully when
you have a dog. Here are some tips to make it happen.

Walk Before Work
We know it can be tempting to roll out of bed and start your working day. But your canine is
going to have a lot of energy after a good night’s sleep. The best thing you can do is let your
dog drain some of their energy. Therefore, start the day by walking your pooch before you
start work. Not only is this good exercise for you, but it can also stop problems with hyper
behavior and barking. Exercise allows your dog to calm down and relax when they are at

Create a Warm Spot
You want to encourage your pup to relax during the day when you are busy. This means
creating a warm spot where they can snuggle up and take a nap. Bring your canine’s bed to
a space in the house where they can relax. You can also choose some blankets that are
going to be your dogs so they know it is their space. Check out Woof Blankets for a special

Try to Ignore Them
Dogs seek attention a lot of the time and when they are used to it, they are going to want
even more. But you do have to work and this means that you cannot be distracted all the
time. We know it can be difficult when your dog is pawing at you and barking. But the best
thing you can do is ignore this behavior. If you give in, they will learn that this is what they
have to do to get your attention. Be resilient and your furry friend will soon get the

Take Breaks for Playtime
If there is one thing all dogs love it is playing with you and their toys. So, take breaks from
your work during the day and spend some time with your furry friend. They are going to
have some fun and burn some energy at the same time. This is also a good way for you to
step away from the screen and refresh. If you do not take breaks and pay attention to your
dog, they might end up bothering you all day for attention. So, enjoy some playtime and
bond with your dog.

Provide Puzzle Toys
A lot of bad behavior from canines results from boredom. For instance, they might try to
chew your furniture or start barking. When you are working, you can easily provide your
furry friend with a puzzle toy. This is going to involve them working for their treats and it is a
good way to keep them amused. In the meantime, you can get on with your work.
